Alright, so I've been busy. Really busy. I don't think I've been this busy in a long time... actually, I don't think I've been this busy ever.
In my few weeks of busy-ness, my house has turned into a giant mess. I have no idea who made this mess, because, well, honestly, I haven't been home to make the mess. ;)
We've all been there. You have a couple crazy weeks that fly by in a frenzy, and then when you finally get those 2 hours off on a precious evening, you are too tired to even attempt to clean anything, and you are pushed even further from merely thinking about attempting, because the mess has become overwhelming.
The thing to keep in mind is that when you have those 2 hours, you don't need to fill up that entire time cleaning.
I have been experimenting with some ideas on how to keep my house clean. And my challenge? Do it in 10 minutes a day. Keep in mind, this is not your weekly deep-clean. You still need to do this, and clearly this won't get done in 10 minutes a day. Sorry. 10 minutes a day keeps your house friendly to unexpected visitors and comfortable for you.
Here's what I do:
Set my timer for 10 minutes. In that 10 minutes, I pick up things around the house. I do NOT get distracted by things, I just pick them up and put them away. When the timer goes off, I stop. Or... I keep going, because I get motivated to finish the room I'm in. Then, I stop. Yes, I stop. This gives me ample time to finish what I need to do, or relax for a little bit. 10 minutes a day, and a few days later, my house is picked up, and stays picked up.
A clean house in 10 minutes a day, and no stress!
